Let's keep up the good work we are seeing at the Open Gyms and try a new workout! If you feel you cannot do the whole work out, start out the first day at 25 and work your way down the list. Then by the next day or two take it up to 30. Ease your way in to the workout. The most important thing is you are doing the exercising! We will see you on Thursday night in the PHSC FIELDHOUSE this week due to Basketball camp. Don't wait - it's your time to be great! Keep going!

Let's Get MOTIVATED on MONDAY! Every week we will be posting a suggested mini-exercise plan to help you get that extra fitness in on days when we don't have Open Gym. This week's comes courtesy of Varsity All STAR and American Cheerleader. The Varsity All Star Jump Workout is meant to increase your leg strength for jumps. You are to do each piece of the work out 3 times. The next piece is for our girls looking for some direction on motion placement. These motions are from American Cheerleader and should give you a visual of what we expect in terms of correct motion placement and what each motion is termed. Please note that we also refer to Right and/or Left Punches as Right and/or Left Fights. A great way for you to check your motions is to hit your motions in the mirror and then look at the reference guide below. Make sure your motions match the model ones. Make up short sequences to practice moving from one motion to the next. Be Creative! Get working and we will see you on Thursday!!
In my previous post I had erroneously put the wrong date down. Open Gym starts THURSDAY JUNE 9th. See you all soon!
Our Open Gym nights will begin for all those interested starting on this Thursday, June 9th at the PHSC Gym. These Open Gyms will be structured to work on fitness, strength, jumps and basic motion preparedness. This means that we will be expecting the girls to stretch, run, jump and do other provided exercises to improve their core strength. We may also occasionally get out tumbling mats, but there will be NO SPOTS PROVIDED - this will just be a stationed area to let the athletes practice their skills so they can work on form and technique by getting feedback from coaches. It is encouraged that anyone wanting to tryout for the 2016-17 teams, especially those newer to cheerleading, attend these open gyms as much as possible in the summer to get ready for the fall season tryout. All athletes attending should wear proper athletic clothes ( T-Shirts and shorts), bring WATER or SPORTS DRINK to drink with a cap or lid ( no Polar Pops or food will be allowed into the gym or field house) and have on some sort of athletic footwear. If your child requires an inhaler or athletic braces or supports, you must provide this every time they participate, as we have little access to training equipment. We will be working out hard to prepare to be our best in the fall! Dates are as follows - all will take place from 6:30 to 8 pm at PHSC.
June 9 June 16 June 23 June 30 - Weather Permitting. July 14 July 21 Please also note there needs to be no excused absences or notification to coaches from these gyms as we know many families will be vacationing on and off through the summer. We do hope many girls turn out and get to know the new coaching staff and routine! We are excited and looking forward to a great year of cheer! |
